Special Election - Unexpired Term
A special election in the town of Gilbert will be held on Tuesday, April 12th 2022. Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than midnight Sunday, March 13th 2022. Voter registration by mail applications will be accepted if postmarked by Monday March 14th 2022.
The following offices shall be included in this election:
County Council- Unexpired Term (2 year term) - (1) Seat
This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot

Filing Opens: 8:00 am on Monday February 14th 2022
Filing Closes: 5:00 pm on Friday February 25th 2022

State Ethics Filings:
Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the State Ethics Commission at http://ethics.sc.gov. Questions regarding your filing can call 803-253-4192. Failure to file these documents may result in a candidate fine but will not disqualify a candidate from the election. Contact the State Ethics Commission for more information.
At 9:00 am on April 12th 2022, the day of the special election, the Lexington County Board of Voter Registration and Elections will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at 605 West Main Street, Suite C, Lexington South Carolina, 29072. All Absentee ballots must be received by Tuesday April 12th 2022 before the 7:00 pm deadline. The hearing will be held at 605 West Main Street, Suite C, Lexington South Carolina 29072.
At 9:00 am on the April 14th 2022 after the special election, the Lexington County Board of Canvassers will begin its examination of the Provisional ballots. The following precincts and polling places will be open during this election from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.
